How to Use Eucalyptus Oil Around Your House

Eucalyptus oil is one of my favourite oils to use in the home. It’s a bit of a all-rounder because it has so many great properties that makes it fantastic for cleaning as its a anti fungal, anti bacterial, antiviral and deoderiser all in one.

I use the Bosists 100% pure blend, as its made in Melbourne Australia and just love it. Eucaluptus oil is great for cleaning so lets get started with my 5 top useful tips around the home.

1. Multipurpose Spray

Add a cap of Eucalyptus oil with warm/hot water from the tap into a empty spray bottle. Make sure you label the bottle. Shake before use and spray onto clean microfibre cloth. Great for all surfaces, tiles, marble, stainless steel. Great for cleaning finger prints of stainless steel appliances and sterilising toilets.

2. Floor Cleaner

Add 2 caps of Eucalyptus oil to a bucket of hot/boiling water, then simple mop away. Great for wooden floors as it leaves no streaks or sticky residue and safe if you have little ones crawling and your fur babies. Also leaves a fresh aroma through the house.

3. Washing Laundry

Add a cap of Eucalyptus oil into your washing along with your regular laundry powder. Works better on hot water cycle but cold is also fine. Helps remove any odours and greasy stains. Great for gym clothes.

4. Sticky Situations

Great for removing sticky lables or gum from hair or carpet. Place some oil on cloth, hold on the sticky residue for 30 seconds. Then leave for a few minutes. Wipe off residue with a clean cloth. Repeat until residue is gone.

5. Coughs, cold and flu

Yep for real. Well know remedy or relieving congestion due to cold and flues. The oil has an decongestant action. Especially when inhaled in warm steam.

Add 1 – 2 caps to a large bowel of hot water. Head over bowl and inhale the vapours. More effective if you place a towel over your head and bowl. Can also add oil to your diffuser while sleeping

6. Bed bugs/dust mites

Spray a fine mist on your mattress and pillows every time you change your sheets. The oil will clean the area and act as a deterrent for dust mites.

7. Pest deterant.

Cockroaches, ants, spiders, moths and other pests traditionally dislike the scent.

Spray corners and areas insect build nests or webs with eucalyptus solution. Or leave cotton wool soaked in the oil in strategic places.

8. Joint & muscle aches & pains

Eucalyptus oil provides temporary relief of the pain of mild arthritis, muscular aches and pains and general muscle soreness from exercise.

Rub in until warmth is felt. Alternatively, mix eucalyptus oil with equal parts baby oil for a smoother massage.
